Large Moonstone Ribbed Globe Pendant
England, Circa 1920–1935
A substantial Moonstone glass globe pendant suspended from a heavy cast bronze gallery fitting, retaining its deep aged patina.
This is a strong architectural example of early 20th century British lighting — understated in form yet materially rich. The combination of opalescent Moonstone glass and darkened bronze creates a refined contrast suited to both period and contemporary interiors.
Design & Material
Large 250mm diameter globe
Deep vertical ribbed pattern
Gloss Moonstone opalescent glass
Heavy cast bronze gallery
Ventilated upper dome
Original suspension hook and ceiling plate
The glass is formed in the classic Moonstone manner — softly translucent with a milky internal glow. The ribbed profile adds subtle structure, breaking up the light and enhancing diffusion.
When illuminated, the globe emits a warm, balanced light with depth and atmosphere — richer than standard opal glass and particularly effective in layered interior schemes.
The cast bronze gallery retains a naturally aged surface, with tonal variation that speaks to its original manufacture rather than later reproduction.
