Grandeur in Detail A magnificent and highly decorative flush-to-ceiling fixture sourced from the historic archives of W. Sitch & Co, Soho.
This piece is a masterclass in period detailing. The large bowl is crafted from heavy-gauge clear crystal, featuring a deep diamond lattice cut. This sharp geometric cutting is designed to catch and refract light, creating a sparkling, prismatic display that enlivens the ceiling even when unlit.
The glass is held by a truly exceptional cast bronze gallery. Unlike simpler fittings, this band features an intricate, pierced relief pattern of repeating geometric or foliate motifs—a hallmark of high-quality English casting. The fixture is crowned by a substantial bronze pinecone finial seated on a fluted mount, adding a final touch of architectural elegance. We have preserved the original unpolished patina, allowing the bronze to retain its authentic, darkened character.
Provenance: The Sitch & Co Collection This piece hails from the inventory of W. Sitch & Co, London’s renowned lighting engineers established in 1776. Based in Soho, Sitch & Co were the go-to specialists for the capital’s most prestigious projects.
While they manufactured their own designs, they also supplied and maintained fixtures from the world’s finest makers—including F & C Osler, GEC, and Faraday & Son. Their client list read like a Who’s Who of British heritage, supplying fixtures to National Trust properties, grand country manors, government offices, and West End theatres.
To own a piece from this collection is to own a fixture that has passed through the hands of England’s most exacting lighting curators.
