Industrial Warmth & Scale A substantial and visually striking flush-to-ceiling fixture sourced from the historic archives of W. Sitch & Co, Soho.
This piece is distinguished by its rare "flash copper" finish. The heavy-gauge metal frame features a mottled, variegated copper surface that creates a rich, warm texture distinct from standard polished brass. This finish was often used in high-end utility spaces or commercial buildings to add durability and visual interest. We have carefully preserved this original surface, which has developed a wonderful depth of colour over the last century.
The frame holds a large, deep frosted opal glass dome. The frosted finish ensures a completely soft, glare-free output, diffusing the light evenly across a room. Its generous scale makes it an ideal centrepiece for a hallway, kitchen, or living space where you want the impact of a pendant without the drop.
Provenance: The Sitch & Co Collection This piece hails from the inventory of W. Sitch & Co, London’s renowned lighting engineers established in 1776. Based in Soho, Sitch & Co were the go-to specialists for the capital’s most prestigious projects.
While they manufactured their own designs, they also supplied and maintained fixtures from the world’s finest makers—including F & C Osler, GEC, and Faraday & Son. Their client list read like a Who’s Who of British heritage, supplying fixtures to National Trust properties, grand country manors, government offices, and West End theatres.
To own a piece from this collection is to own a fixture that has passed through the hands of England’s most exacting lighting curators.
Restoration & Specification The fitting has been sensitively restored in our Nottingham workshop. The metalwork has been gently cleaned to remove surface grime while strictly preserving the delicate flash copper finish and original patina.
