Organic Form & Soft Light A beautiful and organically shaped flush-to-ceiling fixture sourced from the historic archives of W. Sitch & Co, Soho.
This piece is defined by its distinctive "Acorn" or tear-drop silhouette. The glass is finished in a soft satin frost but features a moulded spiral optic or swirl ribbing that twists from the base to the tip. This texture not only adds visual movement to the piece but also catches the light, creating a gentle, graduated glow that is far superior to plain flat glass.
The glass rests in a decorative cast brass gallery. The metalwork features a detailed relief floral or rosette bandrunning around the circumference—a charming period detail that softens the industrial feel. We have preserved the original heavy patina, allowing the brass to retain its deep, unpolished bronze tone which contrasts perfectly with the white satin glass.
Provenance: The Sitch & Co Collection This piece hails from the inventory of W. Sitch & Co, London’s renowned lighting engineers established in 1776. Based in Soho, Sitch & Co were the go-to specialists for the capital’s most prestigious projects.
While they manufactured their own designs, they also supplied and maintained fixtures from the world’s finest makers—including F & C Osler, GEC, and Faraday & Son. Their client list read like a Who’s Who of British heritage, supplying fixtures to National Trust properties, grand country manors, government offices, and West End theatres.
To own a piece from this collection is to own a fixture that has passed through the hands of England’s most exacting lighting curators.
Restoration & Specification The fitting has been sensitively restored in our Nottingham workshop. The brasswork has been cleaned to remove loose grime while strictly preserving the "as-found" patina.
