Unusual English Character A rare and distinctive flush-to-ceiling fixture sourced from the historic archives of W. Sitch & Co, Soho.

This piece is defined by its unusual glass bowl. Unlike standard opal shades, this features a thick, opalescent glass with a striking moulded grid or "waffle" texture. This geometric relief catches the light even when unlit, and when illuminated, it creates a beautifully diffused, soft atmospheric glow.

The glass is held within a substantial, heavy-gauge brass gallery. We have deliberately retained the original aged patina, preserving the darkened bronze tones and hints of verdigris that testify to its age and history. It is finished with a contrasting polished brass tear-drop finial at the apex—a subtle jewel-like detail against the textured glass.

Provenance: The Sitch & Co Collection This piece hails from the inventory of W. Sitch & Co, London’s renowned lighting engineers established in 1776. Based in Soho, Sitch & Co were the go-to specialists for the capital’s most prestigious projects.

While they manufactured their own designs, they also supplied and maintained fixtures from the world’s finest makers—including F & C Osler, GEC, and Faraday & Son. Their client list read like a Who’s Who of British heritage, supplying fixtures to National Trust properties, grand country manors, government offices, and West End theatres.

To own a piece from this collection is to own a fixture that has passed through the hands of England’s most exacting lighting curators.
