Warm Tones & Optical Detail A substantial and visually rich flush-to-ceiling fixture sourced from the historic archives of W. Sitch & Co, Soho.
This piece features a stunning satin crystal dome that balances softness with sparkle. The main body of the glass is frosted to diffuse the light, but it is punctuated by deep, clear-cut details—a striking starburst at the apex and a ring of large oval "lens" cuts around the shoulder. These clear sections act like windows, allowing the bulb filament to sparkle through the soft glow of the satin glass.
The bowl is held by a heavy-gauge metal gallery with a distinctive aged copper finish. This warm, reddish-bronze tone is much rarer than standard brass and provides a beautiful earthy contrast to the cool, frosted glass. We have preserved the original patina, allowing the copper to retain its authentic, time-worn character.
Provenance: The Sitch & Co Collection This piece hails from the inventory of W. Sitch & Co, London’s renowned lighting engineers established in 1776. Based in Soho, Sitch & Co were the go-to specialists for the capital’s most prestigious projects.
While they manufactured their own designs, they also supplied and maintained fixtures from the world’s finest makers—including F & C Osler, GEC, and Faraday & Son. Their client list read like a Who’s Who of British heritage, supplying fixtures to National Trust properties, grand country manors, government offices, and West End theatres.
To own a piece from this collection is to own a fixture that has passed through the hands of England’s most exacting lighting curators.
Restoration & Specification The fitting has been sensitively restored in our Nottingham workshop. The metalwork has been gently cleaned to remove loose grime while strictly preserving the copper finish and history of the piece.
