Rare Colour & Industrial Detail A distinctive and unusually coloured flush-to-ceiling fixture sourced from the historic archives of W. Sitch & Co, Soho.

The defining feature of this piece is the shallow glass bowl, which possesses a rare pale turquoise or aqua hue. Unlike standard white opal glass, this coloured tint adds a layer of visual interest even when unlit. When illuminated, it produces a cool, crisp light that offers a unique atmospheric quality compared to warmer milk glass.

The glass is secured by a heavy cast brass gallery featuring a distinct perforated or ventilated rim. These small circular vents were originally designed to allow heat escape from early high-wattage bulbs—a functional engineering detail that adds industrial character. We have preserved the original aged patina of the brass, which has mellowed to a deep, unpolished bronze tone.

Provenance: The Sitch & Co Collection This piece hails from the inventory of W. Sitch & Co, London’s renowned lighting engineers established in 1776. Based in Soho, Sitch & Co were the go-to specialists for the capital’s most prestigious projects.

While they manufactured their own designs, they also supplied and maintained fixtures from the world’s finest makers—including F & C Osler, GEC, and Faraday & Son. Their client list read like a Who’s Who of British heritage, supplying fixtures to National Trust properties, grand country manors, government offices, and West End theatres.

To own a piece from this collection is to own a fixture that has passed through the hands of England’s most exacting lighting curators.
