Huge Cast Iron Railway Station Clock by Gents of Leicester

SVD4015

A stunning example and extremely rare oversized cast iron station clock by Gents of Leicester in completely original condition with superb aged green paint.

The C24 "Underground" range of clocks were designed to work in extreme conditions with the glass and movement sealed to prevent dirt or moisture ingress and were first introduced in 1914.

The outer steel rim is embossed Northburn Steel and the clock is believed to have originated from the Northburn Iron and Steel works of Monklands, Coatbridge, Scotland which opened in 1920 dating this clock somewhere between 1914 and 1920 making it a very early piece of Gents of Leicester history.

The original slave movement has been retained and is it perfect working order, amazing for a clock that is over 100 years in age and is driven by a modern impulse unit which can be either battery or mains powered.
