Small Copper Cased Electric Slave Clock by Synchronome, London

Maker: The Synchronome Co Ltd, London
Origin: England

A charming small spun copper cased electric slave clock by The Synchronome Co Ltd.

The Case

Compact spun copper case in the classic Synchronome form.

The Dial

Plain off-white dial with clear Arabic numerals, marked Made in England at the base. Unsigned dials such as this are not unusual on Synchronome slave clocks.

The Movement

The clock retains its original slave movement. As standard we will install a modern battery quartz movement for convenience. Alternatively the original slave movement can be retained and run via a modern low voltage impulse driver, battery or mains powered, at additional cost.

The Synchronome Company

Founded in 1895 by Frank Hope-Jones and George Bennett Bowell, The Synchronome Company became one of Britain's most influential makers of precision electric clocks, with master clock systems distributing accurate time across observatories, railway stations and public buildings. The Shortt-Synchronome free pendulum clock of the 1920s was the most accurate pendulum clock of its day. Their great rival was Gent of Leicester.
