Antique Cast Brass Rams Head Frame by F & C Osler with Satin Crystal Bowl
A beautifully detailed antique lantern attributed to F. & C. Osler, one of the most celebrated manufacturers of luxury lighting and glassware during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
The lantern is constructed around a finely cast brass ring featuring exceptionally sculpted ram’s head mounts, a decorative motif frequently seen in high quality Victorian and Edwardian architectural lighting. Each ram’s head is crisply cast with strong sculptural detail, demonstrating the quality and craftsmanship associated with Osler fittings of this period.
Suspended from a heavy cast brass chain and decorative ceiling plate, the lantern supports a deep satin crystal bowl. The bowl features a finely cut radiating starburst pattern to the base, a detail that becomes particularly striking when illuminated as the cut crystal refracts the light through the lower section of the glass.
The combination of satin crystal and ornate cast brass creates a refined balance between decorative craftsmanship and functional lighting. When lit, the bowl emits a soft diffused glow while the cut detail produces a subtle starburst effect beneath the fitting.
