Two-Tone Elegance A high-quality and visually distinct suspended fixture (plafonnier) sourced from the historic archives of W. Sitch & Co, Soho.

The defining feature of this piece is the "two-tone" cut crystal bowl. The main body of the glass features a soft satin (frosted) finish with deep vertical flute cutting, which diffuses the light beautifully. Contrasting this, the upper rim is left clear and detailed with a sharp geometric "tooth" or notched cut. This band of clear crystal acts like a prism, catching the light and creating a sparkling halo above the softer glow of the bowl below.

The glass is suspended in a minimalist flat brass gallery which retains its original heavy patina and verdigris, giving it an authentic, unrestored industrial character. Unusual for a piece of this size, it hangs by three decorative linked brass rods rather than standard chain, adding a distinct architectural detail to the silhouette.

Provenance: The Sitch & Co Collection This piece hails from the inventory of W. Sitch & Co, London’s renowned lighting engineers established in 1776. Based in Soho, Sitch & Co were the go-to specialists for the capital’s most prestigious projects.

While they manufactured their own designs, they also supplied and maintained fixtures from the world’s finest makers—including F & C Osler, GEC, and Faraday & Son. Their client list read like a Who’s Who of British heritage, supplying fixtures to National Trust properties, grand country manors, government offices, and West End theatres.

To own a piece from this collection is to own a fixture that has passed through the hands of England’s most exacting lighting curators.
