A compact but heavy-duty original flameproof industrial light by Victor Products Ltd, dating to the mid-20th century.
Constructed in cast aluminium with deep triangular strengthening ribs and a thick, bulbous prismatic glass dome, this is a true hazardous-area fitting originally designed for demanding industrial environments.
The casting retains excellent detail, including the raised Victor maker’s mark, FLP (Flameproof) designation, wattage rating and original specification stamps. These markings are integral to the industrial character of the piece and speak directly to its engineering pedigree.
The unusual proportions — wide ribbed aluminium crown tapering down to a rounded, stepped glass dome — give the fitting a distinctive architectural quality. Compact in scale yet visually substantial, it works particularly well in grouped installations or lower ceiling environments where a full explosion-proof pendant might be too imposing.
The example shown retains its original industrial paint finish with honest wear and ageing consistent with its previous working life.
