Thorpe became one of Britain’s most respected industrial lighting manufacturers, supplying factories, railway works, shipyards, and heavy engineering environments throughout the 20th century. These pendants represent one of the earlier iterations of the now-iconic Thorlux enamel industrial form, distinguished by their heavy cast iron gallery — a detail that firmly places them within the 1930 -1940 period.
The casting itself is beautifully engineered, with crisp industrial detailing and substantial mass. The galleries have been carefully sandblasted, burnished and wax polished, preserving the honest surface character while stabilising the finish.
