A rare run of large-scale industrial linear pendants by Benjamin Electric Ltd, branded “Taskmaster Flurolier”, reclaimed from the former Ferrybridge Power Station in West Yorkshire.

Designed for demanding industrial environments, these fittings combine robust engineering with restrained Art Deco influence. The radiused ends, stepped upper canopy and disciplined vent detailing give them a refined linear geometry — far removed from later utilitarian fluorescent housings.

With ten available, this is a genuine opportunity to specify a cohesive architectural lighting scheme using authentic mid-century industrial fittings.

Provenance – Ferrybridge Power Station

Ferrybridge Power Station, developed from the 1920s and expanded heavily through the mid-20th century, was one of Britain’s principal coal-fired generating facilities. The site became widely recognised for its pioneering cooling tower engineering and its dominant Yorkshire skyline presence until demolition in the 21st century.

Lighting of this scale would have served turbine halls, maintenance workshops and engineering bays — spaces where durability and consistent illumination were critical.

These are true industrial survivors from that era.

Finish & Condition

• Painted steel upper canopy

• Original “Taskmaster Flurolier” labels largely intact

• Honest industrial surface patina to upper housings

Currently unrestored as shown.

Each fitting will be fully restored, professionally rewired and supplied ready to install.

Upper housings may be:

• Cleaned and sealed to retain original industrial character, or

• Refinished to specification

They would work particularly well refinished in our rusted finish with black suspension hardware for a more assertive architectural statement.
