A refined Jefferson moonstone glass plafonnier pendant featuring elegant neoclassical decoration and suspended on a traditional three-chain brass hanger system.
The beautifully moulded moonstone glass bowl displays a classical swag and urn border around the upper rim, with vertical fluting to the lower section terminating in a central rosette motif. These subtle architectural details are characteristic of Jefferson’s pressed moonstone glass lighting produced during the early twentieth century.
The bowl has been carefully drilled and fitted with decorative brass floral suspension mounts, allowing the piece to hang from three brass chains which meet at a central brass ceiling rose.
Jefferson’s moonstone glass was widely specified in high-quality domestic and public interiors, valued for its soft translucent finish and excellent light diffusion, creating a warm and even glow when illuminated.
