A refined Jefferson moonstone glass plafonnier pendant, suspended within an elegant geometric brass gallery ringand hung from a traditional three-chain ceiling suspension.
The pressed moonstone glass bowl is signed to the rim with model number 2221 and “Pat Applied For”, confirming the original Jefferson pattern designation.
Jefferson’s moonstone lighting became widely used throughout the early twentieth century in both residential and civic interiors. The softly translucent glass produces a warm, even illumination and was particularly favoured for entrance halls, stairwells and apartment buildings.
The bowl features classical neoclassical swag and urn decoration to the upper frieze, while the lower section transitions into vertical fluting that resolves into a decorative central rosette.
Encasing the bowl is a substantial geometric brass gallery ring, decorated with repeating diamond motifs and terminating in sculpted scroll hanger brackets. These connect to a three-chain suspension system which meets at a polished brass ceiling rose.
The result is a beautifully balanced plafonnier combining classical glass design with strong architectural brasswork.
