Huge Vintage Industrial Explosionproof Cast Iron Bulkhead Lights by GEC

Reclaimed Heavy Industrial Flameproof Bulkhead Light Fittings.

These mammoth 12kg bulkheads ooze quality! designed for the most extreme of industrial settings.

Made in England circa 1940 by The General Electric Co Ltd. 

15mm thick "Armour Plate" front glass and heavy cast iron body allowed these fitting to be installed in extreme environments and were often found in military facilities where volatile chemicals and fuels were stored.

 With a brutalist design the bulkheads are a simple shape with nice casting details identifying the makers marks G.E.C and other details related to the function of the fittings "FLP" their cat number "F65034" Made in England by The General Electric Co Ltd and "FOR CELLULOSE INDUSTRIES LAMP MUST NOT EXCEED 60 WATTS"

The fittings are mounted to the wall via two fixing straps which allow the light to be mounted flat with the wall or at 45 degrees to the wall which creates a very effective feature when installed in a run / row.

The light fittings have been professionally renovated and the metal has been stripped back to back to emphasis the casting details and then refinished with a protective metal treatment resulting the deep grey malleable iron coating which also preserves the base metal.

Internally the electric components have all been updated with certified fittings and can be rewired with a cable of choice.

There are three cable entry points on the fitting even allowing to be hardwired with 20 / 25mm steel conduit if required.
