Large Industrial Bulkhead Light with Prismatic Glass Insert.
Polished steel case and brass fittings with outstanding glass insert full of incredible details.
Glass has both an interesting raised section where the light source is placed and then a detail etched section including a W indicating Wigan.
The words WIGAN and PRISMATIC are also displayed on the steel casing.
Made in Wigan, England circa 1940.
Manufactured by Heyes & Company Limited, often referred to as Heyes of Wigan who worked from the Water Heyes Electrical Works in Wigan. The company were renowned for producing electrical switches, lighting and components for the mining and ship industry and responsible for illuminating areas in extreme environments such as the North Sea Oil rigs.
The light can be used as either a wall or ceiling fixing and cable can ever the fixing either via the bottom cable entry or entry sections from the rear of the casing.
We have had lots of Heyes lighting but have never seen this particular design.
