Classic Singer Machinist Stool

A vintage industrial Singer machinist stool with three rounded feet and cast "SINGER" makers marks to the stem of each foot.

Stool looks to have been re-painted in the original gunmetal and gold colour scheme.

Constructed from durable and heavy gauge cast iron the stool has substantial weight, the circular timber seat is height adjustable by spinning the seat on its threaded spindle and locked into place via the Mickey Mouse wing nut.

Each of the three feet has drilled centres enabling the stool to be fixed the floor.

Made in England circa 1930 by "SIMANCO" representing the SInger MANufactring COmpany.

Singer Industrial Furniture: A Classic Piece of History

The Singer Manufacturing Company was an American company that manufactured sewing machines. It was founded in 1851 by Isaac Merritt Singer and Edward Clark. The company was headquartered in New York City and had factories all over the world. Singer sewing machines were very popular and the company became one of the largest corporations in the world.

1905 Singer Manufacturing Co formed as a private company in Britain. The company was registered on 29 April, to acquire business as regards the United Kingdom of sewing machine manufacturers from the Singer Manufacturing Co of New Jersey.

In the early 1900s, Singer began to produce industrial furniture to complement its sewing machines. This furniture was designed for use in factories and other industrial settings. It was made from durable materials and was designed to withstand heavy use. Singer industrial furniture was very popular and became a standard in many factories.

Furniture often displaying the SINGER name or SIMANCO representing the SInger MANufactring COmpany.

Some of the most popular pieces of Singer industrial furniture include:

  • Stools: Singer stools were made from cast iron and had a wooden seat. They were designed to be comfortable and sturdy.
  • Chairs: Singer chairs were also made from cast iron and had a wooden seat. They were designed to be comfortable and provide good support.
  • Tables: Singer tables were made from wood and had a metal frame. They were designed to be sturdy and provide a large work surface.
  • Lamps: Singer lamps were made from metal and had a glass shade. They were designed to provide bright light in a factory setting.

Singer industrial furniture is still popular today. It is often used in homes, offices, and other settings and is a favourite with interior designers and also collectors.
