Vintage Industrial Large Duck Egg Green Factory Pendant by Thorlux

Salvaged industrial factory pendants made in Great Britain by Thorlux, circa 1950, with duck egg green enamel shades and polished aluminium galleries.

The Shade

A deep vitreous enamel shade in duck egg green, with just enough wear to show a working past. Vents at the neck let a gentle spill of light escape upwards when lit, which softens the overall effect.

The Frame

Each shade is topped with a polished aluminium gallery. The quality of the form and finish is well above what a purely functional factory fitting needed, and that is typical of British industrial lighting of the period.

F. W. Thorpe Ltd (Thorlux Lighting)

Thorlux was the lighting brand of F. W. Thorpe Ltd, a British manufacturer founded in 1936 that went on to become one of the country's leading makers of commercial and industrial luminaires. Its post-war factory pendants combined robust construction with a considered, elegant form.
