Rare 16-Inch Jefferson Moonstone Deep Bowl Plafonnier with Exceptional Quality Cast Fittings
A superb and rare Jefferson Moonstone deep bowl plafonnier, featuring an impressive 16-inch diameter fluted bowl in Moonstone glass with raised decorative detail and fine quality casting throughout. The form and glass characteristics correspond to Model 6027 illustrated in The Jefferson Glass Company 1915 catalogue, representing one of Jefferson’s most refined designs.
The plafonnier is supported by cast metal hooks and hangers of exceptional quality, suspended by three linked chains converging to a turned finial and suspension ring. The upper mount retains its original aged silver-plated finish, treated with a microcrystalline wax polish to preserve the natural patina. Inside, a beautifully cast three-arm B22 bayonet bulb array provides ample illumination, diffused through the distinctive Jefferson glass to produce the soft, even glow typical of early 20th-century lighting.
A fine example of period English craftsmanship, ideal for luxury interiors, country houses, and heritage restoration projects seeking an authentic centrepiece with scale and elegance.

Jefferson Moonstone Glass Light Shades

Their Moonstone range, introduced during the height of their success, showcased a delicate translucence and subtle glow that captured the light beautifully, making these shades highly desirable both then and now.
Moonstone glass shades were typically made from milky white or softly colored opalescent glass, often featuring intricate patterns such as floral designs, ribbing, or swirls. The craftsmanship of these shades demonstrated Jefferson’s expertise in manipulating glass to achieve a balance of elegance and durability. They were designed not only to diffuse light gently but also to serve as decorative focal points, making them a popular choice for domestic and commercial lighting during the Art Nouveau and early Art Deco periods.
