A notably large and increasingly scarce Holophane pendant featuring the classic “Ripple-Lite” prismatic glass form, presented here in an uncommon 16-inch diameter — a scale rarely encountered on the market.
The glass retains the original Holophane maker’s stamp and displays the distinctive horizontal ripple banding above a finely prismatic lower dome, designed to provide both controlled downward illumination and soft lateral diffusion. This dual-function optical design made the model popular in higher-end commercial and institutional settings where visual comfort and light distribution were critical.
The glass is housed within a heavy copper gallery and frame, which has developed a rich, naturally aged patina over time. The tall conical gallery gives the fitting a strong vertical presence, making it particularly effective in interiors where a single pendant needs to anchor the space rather than disappear into it.
Because of its size, this example works exceptionally well in kitchens over islands, entrance halls, stairwells, or commercial interiors where a single large pendant is preferable to multiple smaller fittings.
