A highly engineered mid-century British flameproof pendant manufactured by Heyes & Company of Wigan circa 1950, professionally restored and finished in a mirror-polished industrial chrome with contrasting polished brass detailing.

Originally designed for hazardous industrial environments, this fitting was engineered to contain internal ignition and prevent external atmospheric ignition — a level of technical over-specification rarely seen in contemporary lighting.

The original cast markings remain visible to the underside rim, including:

FLP 4640 GRPS I & II

The thick glass enclosure retains the original BRAYMAT FLP mark, confirming its flameproof classification.

This is authentic industrial engineering — reinterpreted with a refined architectural finish.

Finish

The cast body has been professionally polished to a high chrome-like finish, highlighting the sculptural form of the casting.
